1. A shaft for a putter, the shaft comprising:
a body with a tip end and a butt end, the body comprising a steel section extending from the tip end to a connection point, and a composite section extending from the butt end to the connection point;
wherein the butt end has an outer diameter ranging from about 0.550 inch to about 0.625 inch;
wherein the composite section is from 60 to 80 percent of the length of the shaft and the composite section is less than 25 percent of the mass of the shaft.
