1. A surgical instrument, comprising:
(a) an end effector configured to operate at a first energy level and at a second energy level, wherein the end effector is further configured to transition between an open position for receiving tissue and a closed position for grasping tissue; and
(b) a handle assembly, including:
(i) a body, having:
(A) a first slot, and
(B) a first button at least partially housed within the first slot, wherein the first button has a first activation portion and is configured to selectively move from a first activated state to a first deactivated state,
(ii) a trigger pivotally coupled to the body and configured to pivot in a first direction toward the body from a first trigger position to a second trigger position to actuate the end effector from the open position to the closed position, wherein the trigger in the second trigger position is configured to contact the first activation portion of the first button in the first activated state, and wherein the trigger in the second trigger position is configured to not contact the first activation portion of the first button in the first deactivated state, and
(iii) an activation element in communication with the end effector, wherein the activation element is configured to activate the end effector at either the first energy level or the second energy level, wherein the trigger is configured to either activate the activation element or determine whether the end effector operates at the first energy level or the second energy level.
