1. An image processing device comprising:
a map data generator configured to
generate defocus map data representing defocus amounts at a plurality of positions in a captured image obtained by an imaging element, calculated from phase difference information detected by a phase difference detector,
calculate subject distances at a plurality of positions in the captured image obtained by the imaging element on the basis of the calculated defocus amounts, and
generate depth map data representing the calculated subject distances; and a display controller configured to
generate a defocus map image representing a distribution of defocus amounts of the captured image using the defocus map data generated by the map data generator,
perform display control,
generate a depth map image representing a distribution of the subject distances in the captured image using the depth map data generated by the map data generator, and
perform overlaid display of the depth map image with respect to the captured image at a predetermined timing,
wherein the defocus map image includes a plurality of defocus amount display icons having different display modes that respectively correlate to different defocus amounts,
the plurality of defocus amount display icons are displayed at a plurality of positions in a target region of the captured image, the target region corresponding to a subject of the captured image, and
the plurality of defocus amount display icons respectively have different sizes corresponding to the different display modes.
