9. A method for recovering a master media clock that is different from a clock of a device for consuming media packets, comprising:
receiving, at the device for consuming media packets, a plurality of clock reference format (CRF) packets carrying timestamps;
calculating, using the device for consuming media packets, a plurality of differences between timestamps carried by adjacent CRF packets of the plurality of CRF packets;
calculating, using the device for consuming media packets, an average difference of timestamps carried by adjacent CRF packets of the plurality of CRF packets, based on the plurality of differences between timestamps carried by adjacent CRF packets of the plurality of CRF packets; and
establishing, using the device for consuming media packets, a recovered frequency of the master media clock based on the calculated average difference of timestamps carried by adjacent CRF packets of the plurality of CRF packets.
