1. A DJ media player comprising:
a display to show audio playback information;
a controller mechanism used to control audio playback;
one or more energy-storing devices for maintaining a voltage level that is lower than a normal operating voltage for the DJ media player; and
a processor for responding to DJ media-player electrical-power loss, wherein responding to the DJ media-player electrical-power loss comprises:
storing enough electrical charge on the one or more energy-storing devices to at least finish audio playback of a currently-playing media on the DJ media player and perform a shutdown procedure in an event of a disruption in electrical current or potential supplied by a power source of the DJ media player, wherein the electrical charge is stored based on a playback time remaining in the currently-playing media;
in response to sensing the disruption in the electrical current or the potential supplied by the power source to the DJ media player, powering the DJ media player with the electrical charge stored on the one or more energy-storing devices;
continuing the audio playback of the currently-playing media after sensing the disruption;
presenting on the display a notification comprising one of a certain amount of time within which the shutdown procedure will occur or a timer indicating an amount of time until the shutdown procedure begins; and
initiating the shutdown procedure upon sensing that a voltage supplied to the DJ media player has changed from the normal operating voltage.
