1. A system comprising:
(i) a multi-well assay plate selected from the group consisting of a single-well addressable plate or a multi-well addressable plate;
(ii) an apparatus configured to measure electrochemiluminescence from a single well of the single-well addressable plate and from a grouping of wells of the multi-well addressable plate; and
(iii) a multiplexer connected to a controller and to a voltage source for selectively connecting the voltage source to a pair of electrical contacts that form a single interrogation zone or connecting the voltage source to pairs of electrical contacts that form more than one interrogation zone.
