1. A taste-modifying kit for reducing a salty taste of a liquid composition administered to a subject, the kit comprising: (i) a premeasured amount of at least one pH-modifying agent wherein the amount is sufficient to adjust the pH of the liquid composition to a pH ranging from 1 to 6.9, (ii) miraculin, (iii) the liquid composition, and (iv) instruction material indicating that the salty taste of the liquid composition is to be reduced by a method comprising the steps of:
(a) determining the pH of the liquid composition, wherein the pH ranges from 1 to 6.9 or is adjusted to range from 1 to 6.9 using the at least one pH-modifying agent;
(b) providing miraculin to the subject; and
(c) administering orally the liquid composition to the subject after or when miraculin is provided,
wherein the liquid composition comprises greater than 3 grams/liter one or more alkali metal salts.
