1. A method for monitoring a person using a wearable sensor device including at least one accelerometer, the method comprising:
generating, by the at least one accelerometer of the wearable sensor device, sensor device acceleration data indicating accelerations of the wearable sensor device in at least one direction;
processing, by a processor, the sensor device acceleration data generated by the at least one accelerometer of the wearable sensor device to both (a) monitor an orientation of the person and (b) monitor acceleration-based biometric data of the person related to at least one of the person's heart or breathing;
comparing, by the processor, the monitored orientation of the person to a defined turn protocol for the person, the defined turn protocol comprising pressurization thresholds for orientations of the person and turn notification parameters;
identifying, by the processor, a needed orientation change for the person based on the comparison of the monitored orientation of the person to the defined turn protocol;
in response to identifying the needed orientation change, generating, by the processor, a turn notification for output by an output device;
analyzing, by the processor, the monitored acceleration-based biometric data to detect abnormal biometric data; and
in response to detecting the abnormal biometric data:
determining, by the processor, an orientation or an orientation change corresponding with the detected abnormal biometric data based on the monitored orientation of the person;
generating, by the processor, a biometric data-related alert notification; and
modifying the turn protocol for the person based on the determination of the orientation or orientation change corresponding with the detected abnormal biometric data.
