1. A user equipment (UE), comprising:
one or more memories storing processor-executable code; and
one or more processors coupled with the one or more memories and individually or collectively operable to execute the code to cause the UE to:
receive a configuration message indicating that a control resource set for a downlink control channel is associated with a transmission configuration indicator state; and
monitor for one or more downlink control channel candidates based at least in part on a first set of demodulation reference signal (DMRS) resource elements included in a first symbol of the control resource set and a second set of DMRS resource elements included in a second symbol of the control resource set, wherein the first set of DMRS resource elements correspond to a first DMRS port associated with a first transmission configuration indicator state, and wherein the second set of DMRS resource elements are excluded from channel estimation associated with monitoring for the one or more downlink control channel candidates.
