1. A photosensor comprising:
a light receiving part configured to generate electric charge according to incident light;
a charge transfer gate configured to transfer the electric charge generated in the light receiving part;
a discharge gate configured to discharge the electric charge generated in the light receiving part; and
a signal generation unit configured to generate a light source signal for a light source to periodically output light and a charge transfer signal applied to the charge transfer gate, wherein
the signal generation unit generates the charge transfer signal so that the charge transfer gate is brought into a charge transfer state in a first time range of a first period belonging to a first frame and the charge transfer gate is brought into a charge transfer state in a second time range of a second period belonging to a second frame,
the first frame and the second frame occur at different times from each other,
a start time of the first period is synchronized with a timing at which the light source outputs the light during the first frame, a start time of the second period is synchronized with a timing at which the light source outputs the light during the second frame,
when a start time of the first period and a start time of the second period are made to match based on the timing of outputting the light, the first time range and the second time range partially overlap each other such that a second length of time of the first time range overlaps a first length of time of the second time range whereas a first length of time of the first time range does not overlap with a second length of time of the second time range,
in the first time range and the second time range, the discharge gate is in a charge non-discharge state, and
in the first time range and the second time range, time ranges in which the electric charge is transferred overlap each other.
