1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:
determining, at a data center of a cloud computing environment, a connectivity requirement for network traffic between a first portion of a distributed application and a second portion of the distributed application, wherein the first portion is implemented at least in part at a first edge location of the cloud computing environment, and wherein the second portion is implemented at least in part at a second edge location of the cloud computing environment;
causing, based at least in part on the connectivity requirement, an edge-to-edge network channel to be established between the first edge location and the second edge location, wherein traffic transmitted via the edge-to-edge network channel bypasses the data center; and
causing to be transmitted, to the second portion of the distributed application via the edge-to-edge network channel, a network message originating at the first portion of the distributed application.
