1. An apparatus for reading information, the apparatus comprising:
a housing having a slot, the slot being between a first surface of the housing and a second surface of the housing;
at least one detector, wherein the at least one detector detects that a first integrated circuit (IC) chip of a first card faces the first surface while the first card is received by the slot, and wherein the at least one detector detects that a second IC chip of a second card faces the second surface while the second card is received by the slot;
a first IC chip reader adjacent to the first surface of the housing, the first IC chip reader to read information from the first IC chip of the first card while the first card is received by the slot with the first IC chip facing the first surface and after the at least one detector detects that the first IC chip of the first card faces the first surface; and
a second IC chip reader adjacent to the second surface of the housing, the second IC chip reader to read information from the second IC chip of the second card while the second card is received by the slot with the second IC chip facing the second surface and after the at least one detector detects that the second IC chip of the second card faces the second surface.
