1. A cell culture system, characterized in that it comprises:
a plurality of cell culture chambers configured for culturing therein cells contained in a culture medium, and configured for being in fluid communication with one another through a network of channels,
fluid flow rate control means for a fluid circulating through the network of channels,
culture medium conditioning means configured for providing to deficient culture medium gases and/or nutrients which have been lost,
measurement means configured for monitoring the state of the culture medium and/or cells,
a controller in connection with the fluid flow rate control means and/or with the conditioning means, the controller being configured for being in data communication with the measurement means,
wherein:
each cell culture chamber comprises a plurality of fluid inlets-outlets;
the plurality of cell culture chambers all comprise different internal volumes; and
the plurality of cell culture chambers are arranged sequentially so that the internal volume of which increases according to culture process needs;
the controller, according to the data measured by the measurement means, is furthermore configured for:
operating the conditioning means, and/or
operating the fluid flow rate control means such that all the cells contained in culture medium inside a first chamber are transferred to the inside of a second chamber the internal volume of which is larger than the internal volume of the first chamber, and so on, successively, were it necessary, to chambers with a larger internal volume until the cell culture process ends; and
wherein the system further comprises a cell retention means configured for retaining cells inside the cell culture chambers until the controller operates the flow rate control means which allow all the cells to be transferred to another cell culture chamber with a larger internal volume than the cell culture chamber in which they are located or to be extracted as end product or cultured cells or to be transferred to another process.
