1. A fluid coolant system for a medical imaging apparatus, comprising:
a gantry forming a patient tunnel:
a cooling apparatus, coupled to and external the gantry, having a coolant supply for supplying fluid coolant to the gantry, and a coolant return for returning the fluid coolant to the cooling apparatus;
a detector electronic assembly (DEA) located within the gantry and is coupled to the cooling apparatus, having:
a housing:
detector elements located in the housing and configured to detect incident photons of electromagnetic radiation originating outside of the housing, the detector elements having detector element components projecting away therefrom, defining a first surface profile:
a printed circuit board and a power supply located in the housing, at least one of which defines a second surface profile;
a fluid cooled, first chill plate, which is in thermally conductive, direct contact with the detector element components, for cooling the detector element components, wherein the first chill plate includes a first inlet for receiving the fluid coolant from the coolant supply and a first outlet for discharging the fluid coolant to the coolant return; and
a fluid cooled, second chill plate, which is in thermally conductive, direct contact with at least a portion of the second surface profile of the at least one of the printed circuit board and/or the power supply, for cooling the at least one of the printed circuit board and/or the power supply, wherein the second chill plate includes a second inlet for receiving the fluid coolant from the coolant supply and a second outlet for discharging the fluid coolant to the coolant return;
wherein the first chill plate defines a first surface profile that is a mirror image of the first surface profile of the detector elements, the respective first surface profiles in thermally conductive, direct contact with each other; and
wherein, the second chill plate defines a second surface profile that is a mirror image of the second surface profile of the at least one of the printed circuit board and/or the power supply, the respective second surface profiles in thermally conductive, direct contact with each other.
