1. A pressure sensing mat comprising:
a first portion including a first conductive layer contacting a first non-conductive layer, wherein the first conductive layer and the first non-conductive layer define a first set of channels defining a first plurality of conductive strips oriented in a first direction, wherein the first portion includes first and second sides, wherein the first set of channels extend to the first and second sides;
a second portion including a second conductive layer layered to a second non-conductive layer, wherein the second conductive layer includes a second plurality of discontinuities defining a second plurality of conductive strips oriented in a second direction; and
an insulative layer disposed between the first portion and the second portion, wherein the first plurality of conductive strips and the second plurality of conductive strips form a conductive strip matrix having a plurality of capacitors configured to provide capacitances indicative of pressures applied at capacitors of the plurality of capacitors.
