1. A bone anchor system, comprising:
a fastener comprising a threaded shaft at a distal end of the fastener, the threaded shaft having a shaft diameter and configured to provide a first anchoring footprint of a first size;
a bone engaging component operable to receive the fastener within a bore extending through a body portion, the bore extending through the body portion including internal threading that is configured to engage with external threading on the threaded shaft, the bone engaging component including a bone engaging feature extending from the body portion, wherein the bone engaging feature and the body portion are configured to provide a second anchoring footprint that is greater in size than the first anchoring footprint; and
a housing including a channel, the channel positioned at a proximal end of the bone anchor system relative to the threaded shaft, wherein the channel is operable to receive an elongate member.
