1. A heating element for heating an aerosol-forming substrate in an electrically heated aerosol-generating system, the heating element comprising:
an insulating portion;
a conductive portion; and
an electrically resistive portion configured to be positioned to be inserted into a central portion of the aerosol-forming substrate of the electrically heated aerosol-generating system, the electrically resistive portion including at least a first part extending in a direction transverse to a longitudinal direction of the insulating portion, the electrically resistive portion contacting the conductive portion.
