1. A mobile client device adapted to be carried by a user and configured to communicate with a computing system, the computing system for sending a control signal to a lighting controller for controlling a lighting infrastructure, the client device comprising:
a processor;
a sensor;
a communication interface configured to communicate with a computing system; and
a memory that stores computer instructions, which, when executed, cause the processor to:
receive sensor samples from the sensor; and
classify a subset of the sensor samples to generate a classification of the sensor samples; and
map the classification to a corresponding control instruction for controlling the lighting infrastructure and transmit the control instruction to the computing device for sending, in accordance with the control instruction, the control signal to the lighting controller, or
transmit the classification to the computing system for receiving a plurality of classifications from a plurality of mobile client devices, selecting a classification type among the received plurality of classifications based on a relative frequency or a threshold amount of said classification type occurring in said received plurality of classifications, and sending, in accordance with the classification type, the control signal to the lighting controller.
