1. A method for providing a network speed adjustment to a gateway, the method comprising:
receiving a request for an adjustment to a network speed provided to the gateway from a first data transfer rate to a second data transfer rate,
wherein the request includes at least one token indicating a time of usage and a duration of the adjustment to the network speed;
in response to the request, determining that the gateway supports the second data transfer rate by:
determining the gateway has an equipment capability to provide the second data transfer rate,
providing a test data transfer rate to the gateway, and
determining the test data transfer rate matches the second data transfer rate;
in response to determining that the gateway supports the second data transfer rate, providing, to the gateway, network connectivity according to the second data transfer rate;
determining that the duration of the adjustment to the network speed has reached a threshold; and
in response to the duration reaching the threshold, providing, to the gateway, the network connectivity according to the first data transfer rate.
