1. Transceiver circuitry in an integrated circuit device, the transceiver circuitry comprising a signal path including:
front-end circuitry configured to accept signals propagating along the signal path and to condition the propagating signals, the front-end circuitry introducing distortion during signal conditioning and outputting a distorted conditioned signal;
distortion correction circuitry configured to determine and apply a distortion cancellation function, derived from a mathematical model including a family of functions approximating the distortion introduced by the front-end circuitry based on the structure of the front-end circuitry, to cancel a distortion component from the distorted conditioned signal and to output a corrected conditioned signal; and
converter circuitry configured to convert the corrected conditioned signal (a) from analog to digital, or (b) from digital to analog, for further propagation along the signal path of the integrated circuit device.
