1. A computer-implemented method for providing tag suggestions for an image in a social media platform, the computer-implemented method comprising:
receiving the image from a first user of the social media platform;
obtaining a timestamp corresponding to a time that the image was captured;
obtaining a geographic location corresponding to where the image was captured;
creating a list of one or more members of the social media platform that are connected to the first user that were within a predefined distance of the geographic location at the time that the image was captured;
calculating a tag suggestion score for each of the one or more members on the list, wherein the tag suggestion score is calculated based on a distance between each of the one or more members at a time the image was captured and the geographic location and based on a degree of separation of the first user and each of the one or more members;
ordering the one or more members on the list in descending order based on the tag suggestion score; and
providing the ordered list of the one or more members to the first user as suggestions for tagging the image,
wherein the computer-implemented method does not utilize facial recognition during creation of the list of one or more members or to calculate the tag suggestion score for each of the one or more members on the list.
