1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:
measuring, by a current limit device of a data streaming device, an amperage of current received by the current limit device from a display device, wherein the current limit device measures the amperage of the current before the current is distributed to a power supply of the data streaming device;
determining, by at least one computer processor, that the measured amperage of the current is insufficient to generate power to fully operate the data streaming device; and
in response to determining that the measured amperage of the current is insufficient to generate power to fully operate the data streaming device:
causing an indication to be provided, wherein the indication indicates that the data streaming device should be connected to a power source external to the data streaming device; and
reducing power consumption of the data streaming device until the data streaming device is connected to the power source.
