1. An adjustable spacer comprising:
an annular spacer comprising a first end portion having a face facing away from a second end portion, the face comprising a first material, the first material being a hardened material, and the second end portion located opposite said first end portion, and
an intermediate portion of said annular spacer located between said first end portion and said second end portion, said intermediate portion comprising a second material of lesser hardness than the first material and more deformable than that first material,
the annular spacer configured to be mounted coaxially with a bearing assembly and formed separately from the bearing assembly, the bearing assembly comprising rollers and one or more races wherein the annular spacer is separate from the rollers; wherein the intermediate portion is formed separately from said first end portion and second end portion and a separate high force section between the first end portion and second end portion, the high force section being configured to withstand a higher axial force than the intermediate section without deformation.
