1. An aqueous coating composition comprising:
an anionic acrylic polymer, and
from 0.1% to 1.55%, by weight based on the total weight of the aqueous coating composition, of an acetoacetamide functional compound having the structure of formula (I),

where R1, R2, and R3 are each independently hydrogen or methyl; x, y, and z are each independently an average value ranging from 0 to 50; and n is 0 or 1;
provided that the sum of x, y, and z in formula (I) is at least 2.
