1. A coordination polymer comprising a polymer having repeat units of a structure (I):
-{M1(X1   Y1)n1}{M2(X2   Y2)n2}—  (I)
where:
M1 is gold and M2 is, independently, copper, silver, or gold;
X1, X2, Y1, and Y2 are each, independently N, O, P, or S;
each     represents, independently, an alkyl or aryl hydrocarbon group linking the respective groups X1/Y1 and X2/Y2 together; and
n1+n2=the coordination number of M1+the coordination number of M2.
