1. A method of killing a microbe comprising contacting the microbe with a therapeutically effective amount of an ethyl 2-[9-(2-hydroxypyridin-3-yl)-3,6-diphenyl-1,8-dioxo-3,4,9,10-tetrahydroacridine-10-yl]-acetate compound; wherein the microbe is selected from the group consisting of a gram positive bacteria, one or more gram negative bacteria, a fungi, and a combination thereof; and
wherein the gram positive bacteria is Staphylococcus aureus, the one or more gram negative bacteria are selected from the group consisting of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, and a combination thereof, and the fungi is Candida albicans.
