1. A hybrid powerplant for an aircraft, comprising:
a housing including a machine containment zone and an engine compartment outside of the machine containment zone;
an electric machine arranged within the machine containment zone;
a machine fluid circuit servicing the electric machine, the machine fluid circuit extending in the machine containment zone and arranged outside of the engine compartment;
a heat engine arranged within the engine compartment; and
a geartrain operatively connected to the electric machine and the heat engine;
the housing further including a firewall at least partially forming the machine containment zone, and the firewall configured to maintain the machine containment zone when subjected to an electrical arc of at least two-hundred and twenty volts.
