1. A method for extracting a deeply embedded helical coil, the method comprising:
inserting a blade into a mounting hole to engage the deeply embedded helical coil free of contact with a side of the mounting hole, the blade comprising a first portion and second portion and wherein the second portion of the blade is inserted into the mounting hole; and
responsive to the blade engaging the deeply embedded helical coil, rotating the blade and the deeply embedded helical coil to remove the deeply embedded helical coil from the mounting hole,
wherein the first portion of the blade is rectangular in shape and is configured to be inserted into and retained within a slot in a distal end of a shaft,
wherein the second portion of the blade has an approximate diameter-to-length ratio of 5:12 with reference to a diameter of the mounting hole into which the second portion of the blade is inserted and a length of the second portion of the blade,
wherein the second portion of the blade has an approximate thickness-to-diameter ratio of 1:5 with reference to a thickness of the blade and the diameter of the hole into which the second portion of the blade is inserted, and
wherein the second portion of the blade is tapered at an angle such that a first width of the second portion of the blade tapers to a second width, wherein the second width is less than the first width, and wherein the second width has an approximate width-to-diameter ratio of 4:5 with reference to the second width of the blade and the diameter of the hole into which the second portion of the blade is to be inserted.
