1. An apparatus, comprising:
a microfluidic rotor device having a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer, wherein the first layer is coupled to a first side of the second layer and collectively defines a channel, a set of wells, and a cavity, the cavity being separate from the wells, and the third layer including at least one protrusion extending towards a second side of the second layer and being coupled to the second layer, the third layer comprising an opening configured to receive a fluid, wherein the channel establishes a fluid communication path between the opening and the set of wells, and wherein the first, second and third layers have corresponding circumferences;
a container slidable within the cavity during use, wherein the at least one protrusion is configured to penetrate a wall of the container; and
wherein the second layer further includes an arcuate cavity configured for fluid communication between the opening and the channel, a width of the arcuate cavity narrows from one end to the other end thereof, wherein the arcuate cavity has a width-to-depth ratio between 0.8 to 1.2.
