1. An operation control method performed at a computer device, the method comprising:
detecting a target distance between a first virtual object and a second virtual object in a racing game, a position of the first virtual object being located behind a position of the second virtual object in the racing game;
when a duration for which the target distance is less than or equal to a first distance threshold has reached a first time threshold:
performing an acceleration operation on the first virtual object according to an increased driving control force, further including:
determining a driving control force applied to the first virtual object, the driving control force being used for controlling a travel speed of the first virtual object; and
increasing the driving control force of the first virtual object by a predefined portion within a target time period, to obtain the increased driving control force, the increased driving control force being used for controlling the first virtual object to continuously perform the acceleration operation;
updating the first virtual object from a first rendering effect to a second rendering effect; and
continuing to perform the acceleration operation on the first virtual object before the first virtual object overtakes the second virtual object and stopping the acceleration operation when the first virtual object overtakes the second virtual object.
