circumferentially disposing a plurality of axially aligned electrode contacts around the nerve, such that each of all available pairs of immediately adjacent ones of the plurality of electrode contacts has a center-to-center circumferential spacing that is equal to or less than twice the circumferential width of an electrode contact of the respective pair of immediately adjacent electrode contacts; and
delivering an electrical pulse train between a combination of immediately adjacent ones of the plurality of electrode contacts, thereby recruiting one or more of the peripherally located fascicles to treat the ailment, while not recruiting any centrally located fascicle of the nerve.
