1. A method for detecting a fault within a cable connected to a resistor divider, the method comprising:
converting, by an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a first voltage from the resistor divider to a first digital code;
determining, by a digital control circuit coupled to the ADC, whether the first digital code converted from the first voltage from the resistor divider falls within a first range of digital codes corresponding to a first fault associated with the cable;
responsive to determining that the first digital code falls within the first range of digital codes, the digital control circuit generating an indication of the first fault; and
responsive to the first digital code falling outside the first range of digital codes, the digital control circuit:
controlling a multiplexer to apply a scaling factor to the first voltage to produce a scaled first voltage, which the ADC converts to a scaled first digital code;
and
determining whether the scaled first digital code falls within a second range of digital codes corresponding to a second fault associated with the cable.
