1. A method comprising:
receiving, by a server of a fifth generation (5G) telecommunications network, a message from a user equipment (UE) requesting a communication session with another UE;
sending, by the server and based at least in part on receiving the message, a control plane message associated with a default bearer to the UE;
receiving, by the server and from the UE, a first user plane message associated with a dedicated bearer;
determining, by the server and based at least in part on the first user plane message, that the communication session cannot be established using the dedicated bearer;
generating, by the server and based at least in part on determining that the communication session cannot be established using the dedicated bearer, a second user plane message associated with the default bearer;
sending, by the server, the second user plane message associated with the default bearer to the UE using a Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) or a Real-Time Control Transport Protocol (RTCP); and
establishing, by the server and based at least in part on the second user plane message, the communication session over the 5G telecommunications network between the UE and the other UE.
