1. An electronic device comprising:
an address generator configured to:
receive a first address of the electronic device that includes a first field that includes a subnet domain address portion and a second portion that is distinct from the subnet domain address portion, wherein the subnet domain address portion and the second portion, in combination, uniquely identify the electronic device; and
assign a second address to a first device, the second address uniquely identifying the first device and including a second field that includes the subnet domain address portion, the second portion, and a first identifier, wherein:
the electronic device is configured to transmit a first message to the first device over a network.
