1. An antenna system comprising:
a transceiver configured to, via a plurality of antenna elements of an antenna, receive incoming signals or transmit outgoing signals;
one or more processors configured to:
receive, from a vehicle system, information comprising at least vehicle position data, vehicle orientation data, satellite position data, satellite bandwidth data, and satellite antenna polarization data;
determine, based on the information, one or more attributes of active apertures comprising at least shapes, sizes, and orientations;
based on the determined one or more attributes and threshold parameters preconfigured into the one or more processors, electronically activate a subset of the plurality of antenna elements to form an active aperture of the antenna; and
a plurality of control circuits configured to operate in a transmit mode to transmit outgoing signals via the active aperture of the antenna or a receiver mode to receive incoming signals via the active aperture of the antenna.
