1. A tracking device coupling mechanism comprising:
a body at least partially defining a cavity configured to receive and retain a tracking device wherein the body comprises:
a base that is removably attachable to an attachment mechanism, and
a cap removably attachable to the base,
wherein the cavity is defined between the base and the cap;
the attachment mechanism connected to the body, the attachment mechanism having:
a first arm configured to slide inward towards a centerline of the body from a first side,
a second arm configured to oppose the first arm and slide inward towards the centerline of the body from a second side, and
a tamperproof screw removably connecting the first arm to the second arm such that rotation of the tamperproof screw adjusts a distance between the first arm and the second arm;
wherein the cap is removable attachable to the base using one or more screws inserted into the base and extending into the cap, and wherein heads of the one or more screws are covered by the attachment mechanism when the attachment mechanism is installed on the base,
wherein at least a portion of an item to be tracked is configured to be retained between the first arm and the second arm, and
wherein, when the attachment mechanism retains the body in an engaged state, the tracking device coupling mechanism is immobilized with respect to the item to be tracked.
