1. An information handling system comprising: a housing; a processor disposed in the housing and operable to execute instructions that process information; a memory disposed in the housing and interfaced with the processor, the memory operable to store the instructions and information; and
a keyboard coupled to the housing, the keyboard having plural keys biased out of the housing and configured to depress inward in response to an end user press, the plural keys disposed over a membrane having plural sensors to detect presses of the keys, the membrane supported by a support plate having a thickness of a first material having a first thermal conductivity in a first portion and a second material having a second thermal conductivity in a second portion, the second thermal conductivity less than the first thermal conductivity, the second portion aligned with the processor to avoid a hotspot at the keyboard from thermal energy of the processor;
wherein: the second portion extends one or more members of less than the thickness towards the first portion; and the first portion has one or more cavities sized to accept the one or more members; and wherein the one or more members has a ratchet structure.
