1. A position detecting system comprising:
three receivers each configured to independently receive a radio wave transmitted from a transmitter; and
a controller that is connected to the receivers by wires and that is configured to determine a position of the transmitter based on the radio wave transmitted from the transmitter and received by receivers,
wherein the three receivers are attached circumferentially at different positions around a vertically extending pillar-shaped member such that each receiver is configured to receive the transmitted radio wave within an angular range extending away from the receiver on the pillar-shaped member,
wherein controller is configured to determine the position of the transmitter differently based on whether the transmitter is in a first area or a second area of a plurality of second areas,
wherein the first area is an area in which the angular range of each of the three receivers overlaps, and
wherein each of the plurality of the second areas is an area in which the angular range of only two of the three receivers overlap.
