1. An air conditioner comprising:
a temperature sensor; and
a processor configured to:
based on receiving a turn-on command for the air conditioner, obtain a first temperature value that is initially sensed through the temperature sensor when the turn-on command is received,
based on a threshold time elapsing subsequent to the receiving of the turn-on command, obtain a second temperature value sensed through the temperature sensor, and
provide notification information related to an environment in which the air conditioner is installed, based on a difference between the first temperature value and a set temperature value being greater than or equal to a first reference value, and based on a difference between the first temperature value and the second temperature value being less than or equal to a second reference value,
wherein the set temperature value corresponds to a temperature for controlling output of a cooling function of the air conditioner, and
the set temperature value is a temperature at a time when the threshold time has elapsed.
