1. A method of inhibiting insect infection of a plant, wherein the insect is hemipteran insect selected from Aphis fabae, Aphis gossypii, Amrasca biguttula, or Myzus persicae, and wherein the method comprises contacting the plant or a part thereof, or a site on which the plant is growing or is intended to be grown, with an effective amount of a compound of the formula [Hy]-SPPYSPPFSPRL-[NH2] (SEQ ID NO:2), or a salt or solvate thereof, wherein [Hy] designates hydrogen, or a composition comprising an effective amount of the compound in admixture with one or more components selected from solvents, carriers, diluents, adjuvants, preservatives, dispersants, or emulsifying agents.
