A composition for an electrode of a sodium ion secondary battery, the composition consisting essentially of sodium (Na), tin (Sn), and oxygen (O), wherein a molar ratio between Na and Sn is less than 5.0, wherein the electrode is present in the sodium ion secondary battery, wherein the composition is amorphous.
