1. A low-pH, aqueous skin care composition, comprising:
a. 0.1% to 1% of a hydroxycinnamic acid (HCA), wherein the HCA comprises coumaric acid and ferulic acid; and
b. 0.1% to 3% of a hydrotrope wherein the hydrotrope is selected from the group consisting of sodium salicylate, 2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, 3-methoxysalicylic acid, 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid, derivatives thereof, and mixtures thereof; and
c. water;
wherein the pH of the composition is from about 3.5 to about 4.5; and
wherein the composition is free of HCA crystals and remains free of HCA crystals after 2 freeze/thaw cycles wherein a freeze/thaw cycle comprises freezing at −7° C. for a week followed by thawing at 25° C. for a week.
