1. A method for providing treatment of a medical condition with a hardware medication dispenser configured to track medication consumption adherence, the method comprising:
obtaining, by the hardware medication dispenser, a first unique medication cartridge identifier from a first medication cartridge installed in the hardware medication dispenser, wherein the first medication cartridge includes medication;
obtaining, by the hardware medication dispenser or a mobile device, a set of unique medication cartridge identifiers assigned to the hardware medication dispenser and associated with a patient medication record, wherein each respective unique medication cartridge identifier of the set of unique medication cartridge identifiers is associated with a respective medication cartridge authorized for use with the hardware medication dispenser;
determining, by the hardware medication dispenser, the mobile device, or a remote computing system, a first determination that the first unique medication cartridge identifier matches one unique medication cartridge identifier among the obtained set of unique medication cartridge identifiers or a second determination that the first unique medication cartridge identifier does not match one unique medication cartridge identifier among the obtained set of unique medication cartridge identifiers;
authenticating, by the hardware medication dispenser, the mobile device, or the remote computing system, use of the first medication cartridge with the hardware medication dispenser based on the first determination; and
disabling, by the hardware medication dispenser, a feature of the hardware medication dispenser based on the second determination while still allowing the medication to be dispensed from the first medication cartridge with the hardware medication dispenser.
