1. A precipitated silica comprising alkyl moieties chemically bound to at least a portion of the Si atoms in the silica structure, characterised in that the resonance assigned to the methyl groups in said alkyl moieties in the 13C NMR spectrum of the precipitated silica is between −2.5 and −4.5 ppm.
