1. A valve in a fluid delivery system, the valve comprising:
a valve seat and a valve membrane, the valve seat comprising a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, a well comprising an inner surface forming a passage between the fluid inlet and outlet, a first chamber between the fluid inlet and the passage, and a second chamber between the passage and the fluid outlet, the inner surface forming the passage comprising a cross-sectional width that tapers from the fluid inlet toward the fluid outlet, and the valve membrane comprising a base and a protruding portion having a tip, the valve membrane positioned within the valve seat such that the base is in the first chamber, the tip is in the second chamber, and the protruding portion extends through the passage of the well;
wherein, the protruding portion is spaced apart from the inner surface forming the passage when the valve membrane is in an undeformed position, such that a fluid may be conducted through the valve seat, and the tip of the valve membrane is compressed against a surface of the valve seat opposite the tip of the valve membrane such that the protruding portion is engaged against the inner surface forming the passage when the valve membrane is in a deformed position, thereby resisting fluid flow through the valve seat.

10. A fluid delivery system for delivering fluid from a fluid source to a patient, comprising:
an actuator mechanism and a valve, the valve comprising a valve seat and a valve member, the valve seat comprising a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, a well comprising an inner surface forming a passage between the fluid inlet and outlet, a first chamber between the fluid inlet and the passage, and a second chamber between the passage and the fluid outlet, the inner surface forming the passage comprising a cross-sectional width that tapers from the fluid inlet toward the fluid outlet, and the valve membrane comprising a base and a protruding portion having a tip, the valve membrane positioned within the valve seat such that the base is in the first chamber, the tip is in the second chamber, and the protruding portion extends through the passage of the well;
wherein, the actuator mechanism engages the valve membrane to axially compress the tip of the valve membrane against a surface of the valve seat opposite the tip of the valve membrane in a deformed position, such that the protruding portion is radially expanded to engage against the inner surface forming the passage.
