1. An apparatus comprising:
an interface to obtain an encoded bitstream corresponding to an immersive video, the encoded bitstream including one or more atlases corresponding to one or more views;
bitstream analyzer circuitry to determine that a view is at least partially present in an atlas of the encoded bitstream based on a syntax element corresponding to the atlas; and
a filter to, before the encoded bitstream is decoded, remove the atlas from the encoded bitstream based on the view not being within a threshold distance of at least part of a view of interest, the view of interest based on a target viewport position provided by a decoder, the interface to provide the encoded bitstream to the decoder, the decoder to decode the encoded bitstream to output the immersive video.
