1. A sensing network comprising:
one or more sensor nodes, wherein each sensor node includes a gas sensor that measures the presence, concentration, or both, of one or more airborne pollutants in a coverage area surrounding each sensor node;
a mobile sensor base that moves along a path along which the mobile sensor base collects a sample from the coverage area of at least one of the one or more sensor nodes, wherein the mobile sensor base includes a gas sensor with higher accuracy and higher sensitivity than the gas sensor in each sensor node; and
a data center including one or more servers communicatively coupled to the one or more sensor nodes and the mobile sensor base;
wherein the one or more sensor nodes and the mobile sensor base communicate their measurements to the data center and wherein the measurements of the mobile sensor base, the one or more sensor nodes, or both the mobile sensor base and the one or more sensor nodes, are used by the one or more servers as a reference to correct the measurements of the one or more sensor nodes.
