a base that is configured to be positioned atop a support surface;
a support member that is configured to elevate an individual's thorax and head at an angle relative to the individual's legs such that the thorax is elevated relative to the individual's legs by between about 5 and 15 cm relative and the head is elevated relative to the individual's legs by between about 8 and 25 cm; and
one or more defibrillation electrodes that are configured to deliver at least one shock to the individual's heart while the individual's thorax and head are elevated, wherein the one or more defibrillation electrodes are coupled with one or both of the base and the support member.
