1. A system, comprising:
(a) a medical probe, comprising:
(i) a distal end, the distal end of the medical probe being rigid,
(ii) distal magnetic position sensors coupled to the distal end and configured to generate distal position signals, each of the distal magnetic position sensors being fixed relative to another of the distal magnetic position sensors via the rigidity of the distal end, and
(iii) a proximal-end assembly; and
(b) a position-tracking system, comprising:
(i) a memory, which is configured to hold values indicative of known positions of the distal magnetic position sensors relative to one or more other components of the medical probe, and
(ii) a processor, which is configured to:
(A) determine estimated positions of the distal magnetic position sensors based on the distal position signals,
(B) determine geometric positions of the distal magnetic position sensors, and
(C) initiate a responsive action in response to detecting a discrepancy between the estimated positions of the distal magnetic position sensors and the geometric positions of the distal magnetic position sensors, the responsive action including notifying an operator that the discrepancy between the estimated positions of the distal magnetic position sensors and the geometric positions of the distal magnetic position sensors has been corrected.
