1. A reception method, executed by a reception device, for receiving an emergency warning, the reception method comprising:
receiving a signal which stores control information including (i) information indicating whether or not region information is included, (ii) message information, the message information being textual information describing content of an emergency warning and (iii) uniform resource locator (URL) information, the URL information being information indicating a location of content related to the emergency warning;
determining whether or not the reception device is present in a target area of the emergency warning, the target area being a region that is a subject of the emergency warning;
when it is determined that the reception device is present in the target area of the emergency warning, displaying the message information and decoding the content related to the emergency warning based on the URL information;
when the information indicating whether or not the region information is included indicates that the region information is included, performing determination on an importance level of the emergency warning; and
when the information indicating whether or not the region information is included indicates that the region information is not included, refraining from performing determination on the importance level of the emergency warning, wherein
in the determining of whether or not the reception device is present in the target area:
(i) determining that the reception device is present in the target area, when the emergency warning includes region information indicating the target area of the emergency warning, and when (a) a region indicated in the region information matches an area in which the reception device is present or (b) the region information indicates that an entirety of a broadcast area is the target area of the emergency warning, the broadcast area being a region characterized by distribution of broadcast signals by a transmitter; and
(ii) determining that the entirety of the broadcast area is the target area of the emergency warning and that the reception device is present in the target area of the emergency warning, when the emergency warning does not include the region information.
